Reflection Juan Davila

Are you ready to get started with social and emotional learning (SEL)? OEA now offers two foundational level self-paced modules on SEL: SEL - Self Awareness and SEL - Relationship Skills. These independent study opportunities are suitable for ALL member groups and classifications.

The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) defines SEL as, "the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions. SEL advances educational equity and excellence through authentic school-family-community partnerships to establish learning environments and experiences that feature trusting and collaborative relationships, rigorous and meaningful curriculum and instruction, and ongoing evaluation. SEL can help address various forms of inequity and empower young people and adults to co-create thriving schools and contribute to safe, healthy, and just communities."

These two self-paced modules allow you to learn about SEL on your own time and at your own pace. There is no start or end date and no time limit. Each module takes approximately 90-120 minutes to complete. You can earn two PDUs for each module.

OEA's self-paced modules, online courses, in-person workshops, and year-long academies are available to members free as a benefit of membership. Non-members can register in a self-paced module for $25. For open registration and details, see OEA's self-paced module webpage. Questions? Email OEALearn@oregoned.org
