Alyssa Nestler began her teaching career as a preschool teacher with Head Start. She went on to teach in the Springfield School district, where she worked for 10 years. She taught 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade during those years. She also worked as Literacy TOSA at the district office, supporting Title 1 specialists and providing professional development to instructional staff. Aly earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Oregon, as well as a Master’s Degree in Education from Pacific University. Currently, Aly is back at Pacific University as a doctoral candidate in Education Leadership. Her research interests include education policy, teacher leadership, and the development of quality professional learning. Aly holds a research assistantship exploring the impact of school based health centers on student outcomes. She is also an adjunct instructor who teaches on the topic of comprehensive learning, teaching, and assessment techniques for early childhood and elementary literacy development.
