One goal of elementary educators is to help develop kind, caring, and compassionate students who understand their rights and responsibilities. Fostering opportunities for students to develop the awareness and skills to respond when they see others treated unfairly empowers children to act. Further, as they learn to care for their classmates, students can also begin to consider their rights as individuals and their responsibility to care for members of their local, national, and international communities.
