This is an off-year, meaning the President and Vice President are not up for election. However, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 Senate seats will be contested, as well as 36 state and 3 territorial governorships. Although voter turn-out in off-years tends to be low, the stakes could not be higher. Many states are enacting voter suppression laws that will disproportionately affect the poor and BIPOC citizens.
