On this date in 1992, Thousands of people attacked businesses, cars and individuals following the acquittal of four White policemen charged beating a Rodney King to death. The 5 days of rioting resulted in 2000 people injured, 60 people dead and 1 billion dollars of property damage. The media characterized this as a “culture clash” between the Black community and the Korean community (who owned many of businesses that were burned or looted).
