Pioneering aviator Amelia Earhart set off from Harbor Grace, Newfoundland, Canada on May 20, 1932. She arrived in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, 15 hours later in May 21, becoming the first woman pilot to cross the Atlantic Ocean solo.
