Traumatic experiences in students’ lives can overwhelm their capacity to cope and ultimately, their capacity to learn, succeed, and thrive. School staff are an integral community support system that have a sizeable role to play in reversing the negative impacts of adverse childhood experiences. Join colleagues to watch a set of documentaries that help us better understand trauma, how it impacts our bodies and brains, and what we can do as educators.

Film discussion groups include watching the film prior to the meeting and engaging in discussions led by OEA members. Participants can earn PDUs for their participation. This three-part series is for ESP/Classified Staff only. Additional discussion groups are held for other member classifications.

Register for one film or all three! Participants will receive a link to view the film on their own and then will join the scheduled live discussions:

• “Resilience” – Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m.
“Paper Tigers” – Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.
• “Broken Places” – Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 6 p.m.
